Reflect on today's experience.

Today we talked about our comparison and contrasta essay. Mrs. Crawford gave us a sheet with all the things that we should conseder when we write our essay. Fist of all she explain what the MLA format was because like she shai ther are a lot of stundents like me who do not know how to do a MLA format. Then we talked about not using first person for this essay and only use third person lik he, she, or they. We also have to be very specific with our examples. Another thing that we discussed was developed introduction, like how we should have a very clear thesis sentece or statement. Well this was almost everything we did on class and let me tell you that if helped me a lot because I was having a hard time trying to figure out what to do or even how to start my essyas but the most important thing was that I learned the things that I am not suppose to type on this essay. I am kind of scare because this essay is more diffucult well al least for me because the last two essay were not that hard but when we are talking about describing two different things I forget almost every thing. But after this experience at class I find it more easier.

Reflect on today's experience.

This time we did not stayed in class, we went to the writing center to create two accounts, one for Myspace and the other for Facebook. Well not all of the students because some of them have to go make their survey about our English book. I did not had a problem with the Myspace accoutn because I already had one before and Mrs. Crawford said that it was of to use it, but then when I try to make a Facebook account I waste a lot of time and then they said that they will send me an e-mail or something like that so I had to wait more than the usuall. When I was done with it I logged in just to checked how it looks like, at the beggining it looked ok because you know it has almost the same things that Myapace. After that I try to get use to it and it was a little harder than I thought because I wanted to costumized it like the way I wanted. I lookes on google and other websites trying to find the perfect layout or background for my Facebook profile , so a few minutes later one of my friends told me that you can not do that with Facebook. So then I was confused will all the stuff. I asked one of the tutor for help, because I could not find the way to add the Writing Center to my Myspace and Facebook. I started adding all my friend from Myspace to Facebook and I found out that almos all the class had Facebook accounts well exept for me. So all the Facebooks account look the same to me and I think Facebook is more like professional and Myspace is like more for friends well but that is just my opinion. I began to find all the appliances that bot of them have in common, and I releze that they have a lot of staffs in common and a few things different so I think I will have a hard time with my essay. But I enjoyed this experience because now I have new friends and I found out that now I will be able to check if there are some appoinments available just by checking into my Facebook and see my recently added friends " Mr. Writing Center". I hope we will have more of this experiences so we can find out new things.

The articles just talked about Brazilian obesity, researche shows that the number of brazilians suffering from obesity is growing and beauties in tiny bikinis are getting smaller and smaller, acording to them. A study coordinator names Deborah Malta said that obesity among women had stabilized in privious studies, and how there is an expressive increase. Is also says in the article that some 13% of the vrazilians asults are abese. Almost 47.3% of adult males and 39.5% of females are consideres overwight, but this figures are still low compared with some nations like U.S. where more than a third of all adults are consider obese. One of the things that sound very interesting to me was that although Brazilians are getting fatter, they are eating less red meat and more fruits and vegetables. They are smoking less and taking more presentive tests such as mammograms and pap smears. But it also said here that they are using less sunscreen and drinking more, especially to excess and often when driving. In my personal point of view I am not sure if that is really the cause of the obesity. This article contains a lot of good information to all the people and like Berti say in this article " if we do not teach people how to eat properly and exercese, them in 10 years no one will have the money to pay the hospital bills that will be arise." It also talks about the girl from Ipamema who they said is not necessarily tall and tan and young, lovely but could possibly be short, pale , fat and ugly. And when the New Yourk Times reported in 2005 that Brazilians were getting fatter, the correspondence come under attack. In deed, Malta call the earlier report "disrespectfull" and prefers to emphasize the Brazilians are relatively slim compares with thier counterparts in the west. And like she told Times " this is not just Brazilians that are getting fatter, this is a world wide phemomenon.
so like Malta said it is also disrespectful for me too not because I am fat but because I have very close friends from me who are overweight". I agree with her that this is not just the Brazilians. We should not be judging people, but what we shoul do is prevent the obesity like she said by teaching people how to eat more healthy. We should start doing something now before is too late to control it.

This team presented four articles, the first one I am going to talk is about "does facebook replace face time or enhance it" this one talks about Jenny a mother of three children, ages 4 to 14 and rarely finds time for visitis, Phone calls or even e-mail, the full mom in upstate New Yourk regularly updates her status on facebook. A frind of hers said that after 24 years, of being friends now their friendship is relegated to the online world, filtered through facebook. Nelly Jenny's friend said that facebook has brought her closer to her already close friend, who she has little time to see because of the kids and work. She now know more about them that she did when she was in regular contact with them. So based on this first article I asumed that for some people facebook is a good thing to keep people in contact even though if they live far away from them. The sencond article is about "facebook sparks supicion among students" basicly this article says how easy to get you in trouble with you partner because if you are texting or calling another person, probably nobody will know that your talking with other person but on facebook you can see almost everything. It also says that couples are finding that old flames and flirty friends on the social networking site have a unique ability to stir jealousy and suspicious. The third one say that colleges scan facebook during admission. Students need to be more carefull with what they post about themselves online, because many college admissions officers are looking at students' online profiles before they make their final decision. It also says that about a quater of the universities polled in a recent survey where it said their admissions officers research prospective students' social networking profiles before extending scholarships to students. That means that a picture from a weekend party might cost a student a spot on a premier campus. And like Mark D. said that most colleges will do whatever it takes to recruit the right type of students to thier respecteve institution. The last article I do not know why but it is my favorite because research suggest that because of spending too mucho hours on facebook make students' grades go low and I would not talk a lot about this article because in my opinion our gredes does not depend on the hours we waste on facebook because I am always on facebook, myspace, metroflog, messenger and my grades are not decreasing but they are getting better avery day because I study hard. This has nothing to do with facebook, it all depend on the kind of student you are.

Reflecting On Today's Experience

Today when we went to the English Lab I did not know what Ms. Crawford was talking about I just know that she said something about a radio station named Pandora. Maybe you will laugh of me but I though she was talking about this mexican group name Pandora too. So I was so exited to know the answer, so when we began to seach this web site I relize that it has something similar to You Tube, but as we know you can see all the videos you can without limitation and Pandora give you just a certain amount of song. If I am not wrong I guess you can just listen to six or seven song per day. Thats why I did not like Pandora that much. Then after Pandora we went to this website named Lastfm, is almost the same thing as Pandora but you can listen to more videos and it also have more option to choose from both of them have things in common like they have to be with ratio station in which one you can see all kinds of videos of your favorites artist. Thats almost all the details about this two ratio stations. But the thing that I like the most was going to google and looked for our adress to see a picture of our house, that is the one that I liked the most because alot of the pictures were from years ago and the houses lookes so different. And one of my friends showed me his house I mean a picture of his house so at least know I know where my friends live and how their houses looked like. At the end of the class I went to my house and I checked all the websites that we use in the class, it is interesting how can you see a picture of your house. But all of them have things alike for example Pandora and the Lastfm were radiobstations that that let people listen to what they want to hear, like their personal likes for music. Is rare that I will say this but know I am alway in any of those two websites listening to my Wisin y Yandel music. But google its like a way to help people find thing or make your life easyier. This is what I think about this three web sites.

Reflection On My Writing Center Experience.

On my first visit to the writing center my tutor was this man named Renato, he helped me a lot and he also gave me different ways to add more details to my essay. But last time when I went to the writing center again my tutor was "mmmm" I do not even remember the name of the guy, the only thing I remember about him was the way he treated me. At the beginning he introduce himself, and we went to sit in front of the desk. I showed my rough paper and I also showed him the name of the vlog that I choose. He did not even looked at them and he gave me this paper that he used before with other three students, I did not like that because I know that we have the same English class but my vlog was not the same as the others. In my point of view I really did not received any help from my tutor. So I decided to do what my group told me to do. I remember them telling me about my vlog, most of them told me about my details. That I have to add more of them but the thing was that I did not know what detail to add. So one of them told me to described the background like to say in what place they were at a room, park , school, thing like that. and they recomend me to use my five senses to be more specific with all the details. lt also helped me a lot what my teacher said about how she want us to make our paragraphs. So I looked at my vlog and started writing every little detail that appeard in the first minute that include all the backgroung, sounds and facial expressions of the girls who were in the vlog. When I was in the middle of my essay It was like more easyier so I had a great time explaining all the details. It was like reading a book to a blind people and you have to be very specific in all the details of the background and sounds well everything. This was my great experience with the writing center .

Commenting On Other People's Blogs.

In my personal opinion this assignment was a good way to connect our experiences with the other studets. I wrote a comment to Angel , I read his blog and I felt a connection with him because he talked about how dirrerent those two assignments were and how hard was to find an appoinment at the writing center. I also have to passed through all of that but I am glad I made it. The other comment that I wrote was for Anna , I also read her blog about how she use to feel when our teacher said that we will have to make presentations in front of the whole class. I also felt a closed connection with her too because at the beginning of the English class I was scare. I am that kind of girl who does not like to talk in front of the whole class. And its worse when the student start asking questions about our presentation and I am like "what do I answer know" based on what I read about her blog I think she also have trouble speaking in front of the class too. I am also like that I been here for a lot of years and I still get nervouse because when I am nervouse I forget almost everything. So what I want you to know is that in some ways we have a connections with other people's blogs.

Reflecting On Today's Experience.

At the begining of the class we moved closely next to our team members. When I asked one of the students in my group to describe his vlog, we notice that it was not easy, because you need to be very specific about every little detail. We decide to talked and write about everything that was in the first vlog. He described me his vlog , who was in it, what the person was wearing and all those details. It was very interesting because it was like if I was there, I imagined all the words that he was saying. Then it was time to talk about my vlog. In that moment I did not know what to say or how to explain it to them. And then they started asking a lot of dirrefents questions, like "can you describe me what was in the back?". I talked about every little thing that was there even the pictures who were hanging from the wall. I let them know all the detals that I could think about. Is funny but then right after I started describing the vlog I could not stopped talking about the vlog. I never imagined that describing a vlog was so hard. It sound easy for me before but when we had to explained and described everything I was like " man this is not easy". Its diffuicult trying to make another person to visualize what you talking about. Its like if you are reading a book to a bling people, You have to use you five senses in order for them to visualize what you are reading . So if you want to use your sense of taste I would not know how to say it maybe I will say " it was as sweet as a candy"or something like that. But like our teacher said it would not be a good idea if we want to use this sense. Well but what I am trying to say is that is not easy to describe a vlog because you have to be real good at this to make other people see what you saying. And its more harder trying to find a vlog who could have details , because you know that the first vlogs are not as good as the others, well not all of them. I hope you can understand what my experience with this vlog was.

Brief Description About The Essay.

This is one of the hardest assignments that I have to do. Because for me was not easy to decide which vlog will be the good one. I could not even find one that looks interesting to me. But when I came back from school I turn on the computer and I started to checked out almost all the first vlogs in You Tube. I almost gave up until I saw this two white girls sitting infront on the webcam. I pressed play, and it said by MKrazyvids then both of them got a little closer to the webcam and they said " Did you know what time is it" and both of them answerd "Vloging time". Jumping and dancing at the same time, then they introduced themselves Kimberley and Miranda, they are the girls that I am talking about. They were different from the other girls of the fist vlogs. Even thou it was also their first vlog too, they act like professionals, but a the same time they were having fun. They talked about the skills they have and they almost have the same ones. Both of them sing, dance, and the most important thing is that they are best friends. But one thing that was rare about kimberley was that she does not drink coca-cola because she said that people from coca-cola company uses this drink to clean all the dirt that is in the machines. So it is very interesting because now she made me think about the consecuences of drinking this coca-cola. Maybe those acids that the coca containg are killing a lot of people. man I think I going to drink just pure water. Another thing that I like about this vlog was how this two girls could make a long story out of nothing. Like if Miranda says a word then Kimberley says another one and they kept doing tha same pattern. The last thing they did was singing, Kim was playing the guitar and Mira was playing the piano. both of them singing. And I relized that they have some talent in there. Well I hope you understand why I decide to work with this vlog.

Reflecting On Today's You Tube Video.

It was very interesting I really enjoyed it a lot. Because when he started talking he looked very happy and I was asking myself , why I use to think that there is nothing unusual about You Tube. But then he said how fast it grow up , it was fanny when he said that he and his wife were there almost every time to press refresh, because they were surprised about how many followers You Tube had. One of the reasons I liked this video was that it change the way I use to think about this website. Before seen this video I was the kind of girl who use to think that You Tube was just for stuped people. But now I know how unfair and wrong I was. This people find You Tube like a new world in which they can be themselves without wearing their every day mask.I also relized that people were very shy to speak in front to a webcam I remember this girl she was like 20 or 19 years old and when she was inside in her closet doing her first vlog. It was hard to see her face because it was so dark. She was inside her closet no one else were there and she was talking as low that I could not understand what she was saying . But the best one for me was a bout this old man who was acting in like four different characters. One of them was a old lady, the other one was about a gay , I forgot the other ones but it was so funny because he was interpretating one of them and in less then a second he changed to the other. So I think this was a good video. And let me tell you that now I know that You Tube is for people who want to show their special talents , ans also for people who look at this like a way to distract themselves from all the problems that we have in this world. I am sure that in a few days I will be in You Tube too because I have some skills that I want to share with them too.

Reflect On The Difference Between Blog3 And The Etiquette Essay .

Let me tell you that there is a very big difference between the e-mail that I send to my friend and the one that I send to my teacher. Both of them were about the same problem, a bad grade that a teacher gave me and I believed it was unfair. When I wrote the e-mail to my friend Alicia I just grabbed my keyboard and the I started typing all my reasons why I desirved a better grade and how much time I spend studying, all of those things. When I was typing I did not have to worry about grammar or making my paragraphs long or anything like that. But when my teacher said that it was going to be for a teacher, I was so scared cecause I might not know all tha steps that we are suppose to followed but I sure knew that it was not going to be like my friend's e-mail. First of all you have to write a rough draft just to know what your are going to talked about. Then I went to the writing center and spend like half of an hour talking with one of the tutors about my draft. The tutor do not judge you they just listend and gives you better ideas. They also helped me make my e-mail longer and they show me how to find supporting details. They also help me with my grammar error, I went home and I started to write my e-mail like three times and when I turned it in, it was not perfect but now a least it look better. And for sure it does not look not even a little like the one I send to my friend. As you can see they are very different from each other. It took me less than 15 minutes to write an e-mail to my friend, but it took me almost four days to worked in the one that I was sending to my teacher. Maybe you are not going to believed me but I prefer the one that I send to my teacher because it looked more organized and more professional.

Reflecting On My Workshop Experience.

It was kind of confusing, because almost every one in my team are a little shy, so we did not wanted to read our e-mails out loud. But at the end we had to, so we stared reading our e-mail to the others. The workshop that we had helped me alot because, all the members in my group told me a lot of good things about my e-mail, but they also told me the errors that I made. Almost no one like to hear their errors but we relized that if we want to hava a nice e-mail we have to correct our errors. I asked them how can I make my e-mail more longer because I had just like three paragraphs with four sentenses each and it was not long enough. They suggested a lot of good things like, adding more details to my e-mail and be more specific about what I wanted to say. One of the opinions that I liked the most was the one about supporting my sentenses, that means that I have to show proof or evidence so that the teacher would understand and believed what I was saying. Also what I liked about the workshop was how important was our opinion to the other students. When one of the students started talking about hers, I notice that she has a lot to say, and I liked her e-mail, but I alsto have to let her know that she had made a little mistakes. She was so in to her e-mail that she wrote some feelings in there. And we are not supposted to be dramatic. I was a little shy to told her but, at the end I did it , what was my surprized, that she did not got mad or anything like that the only thing she said was " upps you are right I am mixing feelings and I am not supposed to, thanks Maria". So at the end I was ready to fix my paper and write those new ideas that they gave me . I really enjoyed working with them.

Summarize Today's Articles

All of them have something to do with internet. The first one was about "eHarmoney Biased Against Gays", it says that eHharmoney has only two choices in the first page "man seeking woman" or "woman seeking a man". Neil Clark Warren founder of eharmoney and a conservative chistian says that gays are some kind of different species, Warren seems like a sweet guy in those ads, but this line of reasoning is transparently convenient:" Gays are just such an exotic and curious people why I could never understand them! and anyway their reltionships are illegal so best to ignore them completely". Which of couse discriminate all gays by not letting them use eHarmoney site. But my question is why gay people have to go there? they should find another site, now there are a lot of different sites for gay people not just eHarmoney. The other articles about "Dating Detectives" just give us informtion about a matrimonial site where people like Sharman go. Sharman a 28 years old man met a girl on the matrimonial site, they spend months chatting. When their relationship reached an advanced stage Sharma decide to married her but, firs he hired a detective who quickly stablished that Sharma's online paramour had been seen checking into a hotel with another man. In my personal opinion I prefer to know them face to face and not by a webcam. The last article named "Getting Back To It" is mostly about all those people who after a marriage of several years one of them die or because whatever reason they have to start again. And there is nothing wrong with that but they say is both easier and harder these days. In some way, it's easier for people in their 5o and 60 than for those in their 20 and 30 to date, since they been in a committed reltionship before and know what is involved when it comes to marriages. But that is not a reason for them to date younger girls. They should be more aware of the consecuenses of a relation like that .

Reflecting about today's experience.

It was a interesting discussion, the one that we had on wednesday. Talking about sending a e-mail to one of our teachers letting them know that we deserve a better grade. It is difficult than it sounds, cause I do not even know who I am going to send it to. It is not like just writing a e-mail for a friend of us, is very different from that, you have to al least follow a few steps to make it sound serious and professional so the other person can take it serious too. I loved that way miss Crawford gave us an example of our coming e-mail assignment. She used an example of a girl sending e-mail to another girl telling her that she needs to live her boyfriend alone. You had to see how easy she make it. But like she said, you need to go direct to the point and show some detail or proofs of what you are saying, so that the other person will know that you are being serious. And let the other person know exactly what you want and why. At last she explain very carefully the meaning of CC and BCC. It is funny, because I have a lot of friends who I usually send e-mails to them and I did not know what those two words were, but now I do. So now that I know what those words are, I am going to use them more often, so I can get use to them and use them if we need to. Now I am starting to like this class more and more. I know that I said before that I did not like to do almost every thing like assignments at the computer but, if we think at this is better for us, because in the way we could be more familiar with different staff and the most important thing, we have to be prepare for the future that includes technology. Do not forget that this discussion was one of the best ones for me.

Discussion of the two articles we presented.

At the beginning of the class I was very nervous because I was thinking in all the students who will be there asking a lot of question and what if I forget every little word I read about our four articles? It could sound very ridicules saying that I not use to this kind of presentation or saying that I am too shy to speak in front of the whole class, maybe I do not look like a shy girl but I am, that is why our team take some time to prepare all the small details about the articles. Believed or not I spend like one or two hours texting with one of my team members and also with the team leader deciding which and in what order we will be present the articles. It sound kind of easy but it’s not because you have to focus in the author’s article and hardest part of it is getting the most important points. At the end we figurate out what the author wants to say with this kind of articles. So when the teacher said that we were going to present our articles, it’s funny but Angel and I wanted to go away, because we were very nerves. At the end we decide to go and present our work, I was going to be the first one to speak. I felt my voice shaking but I controlled it, and I said what I tough were the important points of my article. Then all the members of my team talked about theirs and it sound like if we had practiced this presentation for a long time ago. When we were done talking all the other students in the class started to ask a lot of questions like a predicted before the presentation , but it make me felt kind of fine because if they were asking question it was not just because of the points but also because they are interested in what the future and technology will bring to all of us and how we can prepare ourselves. So for me this was a great presentation and I hope they liked it too.

Summarize the two articles assigned for today.

In our discussion that we have today about the articles that were presentated by the third group today, we talked and compare all the differences between how people is changing their way to write because of the technology. I notice that we have diffent points of view, some of them look at this technology as an easier way and faster too to do things but, I disagree based on things that happend to me lately when I am texting to a friend is easy to text but, when some of my teachers ask me to write something in my notebook is hard to do it because I'm always trying to use the same short words that I use when I am texting and its a bad habit. But like one of the girls said you just have to know when to use it and when not to use it. There are also good thing about it, in one article it says that people who has more skills are the ones who get the jobs because in this time a lot of jobs ask for technical skill so, we need to know al least something about it. What I do not like about our discussion was when one of the students talk about one University who is offering Ipod to convense the students to enroll to their campus and then they said that it has a GPS so they will know every little place that we go. I totally desagree with that cause like a young lady I think we have not that we need but we have to have a time but ourselfs . But it was a great discussion and I love it cause you should see all the different opinions between the students about technology , but at the end every single one of us will need to learn something new do not forget that this is just our present but a different future of technology is waiting for us.

Reflecting on today's discussion

Today in our class, when my teacher was speaking she gave us a lot of lecture and discussion about future events and she mademe think about the importance of being in a group because we can help each other, but I didn't like that all our assignments have to be done by computer because not all of us have the opportunity to work in a computer. One thing I liked about this class, it's that all our assignments and test are in the schedule, so that I will be able to be organized and be prepare with a week of anticipation. Sometimes I have some problems to understand some of the themes and I am sure I will need some extra tutoring but with the links that Miss Crawford offered me at the PALS account, it makes it much easier to get involve and develop my essays.I do not feel comfortable typing an essay in the computer and my reasons are the following: first because I need glasses and it's kind of hard when I spend too much time in front of the screen and second because I can concentrate even better in handwriting than in computer. I feel confused about the changing schedule between the classroom and the lab. Sometimes I forgot that we have to meet at the lab and I usually get late because I went to the classroom. And talking about my grades, I'm kind shy and that will be a problem when I want to participate or to talk in front of the class. I have to be up to date with my assignments given to me in the schedule so I can prepare more. And how I am going to do that? I am going to follow my teacher's rules.

Alicia, remember that last week i spend almost all my time studying for our final test. I did not went out for the whole week because I decide that my test was more Important than having just a good time. well just imagine my self sitting in my room by myself trying to understand those hard questions and reading all kind of book that will help me understand those things in a easy way to solve them. One of those day, was my bestfriend birthday and she want me to be there with her and I did not went because I was focus on my books. Guess what the big day was yesturday at 8:00 and I was the finish to start the day but when I start reading all the questions I relized that I did not know any of them , because I have studied the wrong material so as quickly as I coul I stand my self up and I told my teacher all the problem, she did not gave a chance even that it was not my fault it was hers cause she gave me the wrong study guide. I felt so sad and dissapoinment at the same time, but i just went back and try to solve those problems but it was just a waste of time. I can solve even one, twenty minutes later she gave us our grade and there was mine a big, fat zero. You can not believe how but my heart was feeling about that, is unfair you know the list she coul do for me aleast is giving me another chanse is was her fault not mine. Girl i hope you understand why i feel so sad and i won't forgive her for making such a big error with me. Bye talk to you later.

Writing process

Before doing anything, I make sure I have a quiet room and have my mind clear too. When I fell ready to work, I sit in front of my computer and I began to type out whatever comes to my mind. Then, I read over what I have written and pick out the words that need to stay in my paper those who have good ideas. After I have done all this I start by doing a pre-writing where I will get all my thoughts and facts together. Then I will write a rough draft , that will take me at least a day or two. I read over and over again, making more chandes as I go. sometimes I clomplete the process in an hour or two. I always try to find people who would be interesting in reading something new because I like when people tell me what and how they think about what I wrote. But the one who has the last word is my mom, I sit her in my sofa and I start reading to her all my story. Even that she do not have that much time she focus very careful and at the end she always tell me tha bad and the good things about my writing. After she is gone I will revise again trying to look for ways to inprove my paper, like checking for spelling and grammatical errors. And after all this steps I will publish it. The good thing about this is that you can always go back to you writting process and try to improve.

How do we use technology

There are a lot of different ways of using technology. Before our days, people use to send letters to their families that will take at least four to five days to get there. Now, with the technology, we just have to write an e-mail and "Bamm" it will be there in less than a minute. That is a great thing for me because if I have something important to communicate to my family, I won't have to wait days to informed them. We have a lot of different times in which we use technology but for those people who live in Texas I'm one hundred percent sure that most of them use every single day of technology because we know that Texas is a very hot state and the first thing that we do it's run turn the air conditioner on. If we keep talking about how we use technology we will be here forever. But let's make sure that it has its disadvantages about technology. Don't forget that people who use to work in the agriculture lost their jobs because of technology.
